Olson Guitars
Phil Keaggy assisted in the construction of the first cedar-topped SJ cutaway model by Olson Guitars. Once he received two guitars of this model he stated that they were “two of the best guitars ever made.” Phil Keaggy is known as the first nationally known professional guitarist to have performed with this guitar brand. Presently, Phil Keaggy still primarily plays the Olson SJ Cutaway as his main acoustic guitar. Phil recorded many albums with this guitar, including his “Way Back Home” and “The Wind and the Wheat.” Phil stated that because of his sentimental attachment to the guitar and for fear of it becoming damaged, he now only uses it for local performances and studio recordings.
